An excuse to post a photograph

The page was starting to look a little white, so here's a post. While looking around for something else, I noticed that the Harbour Cottage Inn redesigned their website. It looks very smart.

One feature they've added is an "online concierge," basically some things to do, places to eat, etc., in and around Southwest Harbor. If you're there an extra day, and need something to do, it's worth checking out.

Seventy Days

That counter on our website kinda freaks me out. Every day there's one day less (and usually every time I check it feels like I've lost 5 or 6 days). I should be looking forward to it (and don't get me wrong, I am!), but in the everyday context it's one less day to get things done that need to get done.

We have a few more things to get done this weekend. A couple more friends from work have signed up for the wedding, and as soon as we have photos I'll introduce them to the gang. We haven't gotten many official RSVPs back but we have a pretty good sense by now of who else is coming that's not already up. Hopefully everybody! We shall see.

We met with Mayur last night to discuss the wedding ceremony for a bit. We're really happy to have him do it and he's paid us a huge compliment by the amount of work he's put into it already. Kudos Mayur!

Here's to the weekend!

Booking at The Drydock

Just a note to let you know that if you wish to book at the Café Dry Dock & Inn, you should call or email Marty directly, at (207) 244-5842 or (800) 246-5842, or info@cafedrydockinn.com. Skip using the online service on their website because it will only show up as booked (for our wedding, naturally).

100 days until the wedding!

Quick update on stuff: If all goes well, we'll be mailing off your invitations in the next week to ten days. We just passed the 1,000 mark on our website counter. I don't know what it's counting, to be honest, but it's still kinda neat! I just got initial measurements for an outfit to wear at the wedding. We just booked flights for our honeymoon. Amy thinks several of her family members actually booked hotels a while ago. We're following up on that and will have them in the guestbook just as soon as we track it down! We're excited about going to see The Rivals tomorrow night--it won't be the last you hear from them! Plenty other balls in the air, let's hope we don't get plonked by any of them!

Accommodations in Southwest Harbor

Amy and I were Maine the other week and took a short driving tour of snowy Southwest Harbor, so guests could get at least a tiny sense of where they were staying. We started south of the town at the fork in the road off towards Manset and the Seawall Motel. The other two accommodations that aren't shown on this video are the Island House and The Birches. The former, by the way, is booked up, but the latter looks like a really nice to stay, if (relatively) remote from the others. In the video we pass the Harbor View Motel, the Captain Bennett House, the Kingsleigh Inn, the Inn at Southwest, the Cafe Drydock & Inn, the Harbor Cottage Inn, and end just below the Claremont Hotel.

Below is a little map of where we went. For more detail look at our Maine Map. Note that there's a marker on this map for the Upper Town Dock, which is where the charter boat is currently scheduled to leave. (There are other docks, however, including the Coast Guard and Beale's docks, which I mention in the video as being possible points of departure. Those two are farther out on the point.)

April 1, 2007

This is an exciting period for us and the wedding planning. We are taking Martin up to Maine this week to settle some of the important issues, like the menu, the ferry, where we're going to have the ceremony, etc. etc. Also, we've finally put up information about wedding gifts here. Please visit and consider donating!

We are considering sending out a reminder email to all of the wedding guests that we don't have unlimited rights to the rooms we've reserved for the wedding. It's almost time for people to be running behind on making their plans!

Happy Valentine's Day! Another guest booked his hotel today, so check the Guestbook later on to meet someone new! We're compiling a lot of information on activities in and around Acadia National Park, and so soon our "Places To Go" page will be up and available.

People are getting their save the date cards and making inquiries. Over the next couple of days, we'll be adding those of you who have booked rooms to the guestbook, and updating hotel information (particularly as to kid-friendly locations).
